The history of Clément rum begins in 1887 when Homer Clément, doctor and mayor of Le François bought a prestigious sugar plantation which was then inherited by his sons, who studied a method to enhance and improve the distillation of rum.
The Clément production method is based on old agricultural traditions: sugar cane is harvested only from February to May.
The trick of the Martinique harvesters is to cut the sugar cane close to the ground, in this way the sucrose level in the plant is better preserved.
Many precautions make Clément rum one of the best on the island of Martinique.
Rhum Clément is made in strict compliance with the guidelines defined by the Controlled Designation of Origin.
