Description
Lagavulin 12Y Scotch Whiskey Single Malt Special Release 2023
This Single Malt Lagavulin reflects the intensity and pride of the more than 200 years of history of this legendary distillery. The indelible history of this whisky, aged for 12 years and refined in Don Julio Añejo tequila barrels, is the fruit of the work of the Malt Master, who wanted to explore the symbols of the ancient Mesoamerican art of tattooing. Lagavulin is part of the new Diageo series, which celebrates collaboration between different cultures with a range of different Single Malt expressions, inspired by countries around the world
To give a completely different version of Lagavulin, the traditional peated distillery on the island of Islay, Diageo thought of uniting these two apparently distant worlds and giving its own version of an apparently impossible marriage. The alcohol content is high to demonstrate how much this whiskey has to tell the nose and palate of the connoisseur and lover of Lagavulin whisky.
This Single Malt is a Lagavulin at its maximum strength, to which the refinement in tequila has given strong overlays of vegetal, smoke and black plum. On the nose there are hints that are more medicinal than peaty, with aromatic wood smoke and herbaceousness taking over, with a slight salty nuance. The palate is initially sweet and citric, pervaded by a sprinkling of salt, which reveals notes of plum in a growing smoky finish. The finish is persistent, vaguely salty and very peaty, with a smoky aftertaste. Dry and at the same time enveloping.
