This gin, a typically colorless liqueur with a high alcohol content, is produced from four stages of distillation of wheat, barley, juniper berries (from which it takes its name), herbs, spices, plants and roots.Distillate originating in Holland towards the middle of 1600 by a doctor Franciscus Sylvius who used it to treat Dutch soldiers who fell ill with fever in the East Indies. In the mouth it proves to be quite dry. Gin Tanqueray is dry and dry, has an intense juniper scent that makes it ideal for creating refreshing gin tonics and very dry martini cocktails. The foundations of the Tanqueray brand were laid over 170 years ago when Charles Tanqueray, descendant of three generations of clergymen, decided not to follow the family vocation and instead opened a distillery in the Bloomsbury district of London. Charles's refusal to accept the status quo resulted in many years of studying herbs from around the world. Today Tanqueray gin continues to carry on the history of excellence started by Charles Tanqueray.
